Unfortunatley it does not seem as though this horrific phenomena of SMOKE TAINT is leaving the world-wide wine production industry. JUCLAS USA, coupled with the VASONGROUP R&D team, have worked diligently over the last 5 harvests to better understand how to make a bad situation better and most importantly how to take unusable, unsellable, and undrinkable wine into a viable product that can be used for production.

JUCLAS USA is offering free samples of ZIMAROM, FPS, & MASTERVIN COMPACT, to any winery who would ike to evaluate them against their different levels of smoke taint.

We are currently offering free trial asisstance and analysis by Leo Facini, VASONGROUP Techncial Expert in the USA for harvest 2018.

As a strategy, JUCLAS USA, decided that we wanted to minimally impact smoke tainted wine by utilized a adjuvant protocol (instead of equipment) to aid in the treatment of the tainted wine. We have developed the following "strategy and general protocol":

ZIMAROM - glycosidase enzyme specifically designed to cleave the bound volatile phenols from the residiual sugar. After 5-7 days of contact volatile phenols are now in a free form and ready to be removed from the wine solution.

FPS - specific deodorizing carbon designed to ONLY target volatile phenols. Does not impact desireable polyphenols or aromatics. Does not reduce or remove color. After 1 week of contact time your wine will go from a muted, ash tray laden liquid to one that can exhibit varietal characteristics. The only commercially available activated carbon found to have a positive impact on smoke taint perception according to the Australian Wine Research Institute.

MASTERVIN COMPACT - Italian origin sodic activated bentonite with a silica component that efficiently settles out the carbon and completely denatures the enzyme. Works to avoid the "fluffy bentonite" during racking to minimize loses. Does NOT touch color. Specifically studied to not impact anthocyanin content up to a dose rate of 75 g/hL.
